Investigation of the entrepreneurship perception and personality characteristics from different disciplines: A case of a public university

In today's highly global and competitive environment, entrepreneurship plays an extremely important role in the development of countries. It makes a vital contribution to the innovativeness and economy of the countries. On the other hand it also effects the workforce of the country. For these reasons, countries are involved in this subject with various institutional and legal activities. In the literature there is a widespread perception that entrepreneurship is unique to younger generations. Based upon the literature, this study aims to investigate the validity of this perception by getting the entrepreneurial considerations of the younger generation. Moving from this motivation, a study is carried out among the students of a public university by using questionnaire method. The survey was conducted in the freshman and senior students of Architecture and Economics Departments in a Public University in order to compare the entrepreneurship considerations of the students from different disciplines including science and social science disciplines. In the first part of the questionnaire, demographic questions were asked to the students such as gender, family structure, and income levels. Beside that the students were asked if they want to be an entrepreneur or not. The results of the questionnaire were evaluated with help of SPSS 21. (The areas the entrepreneur candidates want to focus were also emphasized, both in terms of entrepreneurship and in the broader sense in terms of the country's economy. For future research it could be suggested to conduct the survey in different departments and in different universities.
