Abstract (EN)
With the recent digital break, there have been great changes in architectural design and manufacturing practices. In addition, it is a fact that, in the historical process, architecture have had a lot of communication and mutual interaction with fields such as art, philosophy, politics and technology. In this context, within the scope of this thesis, the developments in digital design technologies experienced in the early 90s and the concept of fold by Deleuze, which can be seen as basis of these developments, have been examined. The motivation of the thesis is to read the traces of the concept of folding on contemporary architectural productions and to seek answers to the question of whether Deleuze's philosophy still having potentials for contemporary architects and designs. A field study was conducted with the analysis made on 4 designs of Bjarke Ingels, one of the star architects of the 21st century, in various scales and programs. In this process, the selected structures were attempted to read through the fold concept. In addition, the concepts of rhizome, multiplicities, fracture and smoothness that form the tectonics of the fold have been included in the study as subevaluation criteria. The hypothesis has been tested by evaluating the findings and the research question has been answered. As a result of the research, it has been seen that Deleuze's philosophy still has traces and potentials in the digital world of the 21st century, and the thesis has been concluded with suggestions that will deepen future studies in this field.
