International air transportation during the globalization and the rivalry of Turkish civil airways

The globe has altered rapidly especially in the last two decates. As theeconomical and political boundaries disappeared, material and immaterialvalues exceeded the national borders and spreaded through the world,transportation came into prominence.Air transportation is one of the main sectors that has been affected inthis alteration process which is defined as the globalization. Due to theiractivities, air transportation is one of the most open sectors to theinternational area. The factors affecting the process of globalizationaccelerates the globalization of the airline companies, similarly airwayscontributes to the process of globalization.This study is aim to observe the changes in the air transportation inthe globalization process and to evaluate the rivalry of Turkish civil airways.This study denotes the fact that in civil air transportation from thebeginning of the deregulations, costs and revenues have decreased.Furthermore the transportation exceeded the national borders and slid to theinternational area. The companies which aim to increase their market shareand their profits in the competition environment of the international marketbecome to merge with other companies and form global alliances.In Türkiye where the highway transportation is mainly used, the airtransportation sector has developed considerably in the last few years.Especially international transportation figures and load factor grow rapidly.On the other hand, the proportion of the international transportation in thegeneral transportation increases day by day.The increase of the demand in the international routes of the TurkishAirlines, is higher than the increase in the supplies. As a result of this, theirmarket share has increased, load factor have mounted, and their unit costshave decreased. All of this expands the rivalry of the company.
