The migration's new address: A sociological analysis of Turks in Polandexample of Cracow

The migration of young and educated individuals, has been widely discussed as a social phenomenon in the migration literature. Skilled people's migration has recently been affected by Turkey's social, economical and political changes. This immigration has been seen towards to Germany, The United States, Canada and the several European countries such as Poland in which gradually receives both students and workers as migrants. From the historical point of immigration is nothing new for Turkey. The first Turkish migration was happened towards to Western European countries such as West Germany and Belgium; nowadays Turkish migrants can be recognised in many European cities and countries with global migration trend. Turks in Poland, as one of the developing Eastern European country, are not a dominant minority as in Germany but its existance cannot be underestimated. Poland in which was one of the most sending countries in Europe, has become one of the most migration-receiving country due to its EU membership and employment gap related to EU-International investments. The route of Turkish migration has led to Poland in such factors; increasing study abroad trend which is widely accepted by many people, its low living expenses and relatively cheap semester tuitions amongs the other EU countries, and EU membership. It is proved that 51% of interviewees came to Poland for educational purposes. Long lasting friendship and the non-political conflict between Turkey and Poland increases its charm to affect Turkish migrants. Therefore, this research mainly focuses on Turkish citizens who lived in Cracow more than 3 years and reveals the reasons of Turkish migration towards Poland ın consideration of its quantitative and qualitative collected data. Turkish population in Krakow is portrayed according to the figures which was collected by survey method and qualitative data which was collected by semi-structured interview method One of the important results of the collected data is 11% of increasing number of people who came as a student and stayed for work purposes apart from people who came for work, due to the employment opportunities resulted in outsourcing companies located in Krakow.
