Abstract (EN)
Skyscrapers, due to their scale, are structures that are suitable for creating ecological and environmental energy consumption, thermal and visual comfort problems. Such buildings require a lot of mechanical and electrical power for artificial lighting, heating, and cooling, and as a result they consume large amounts of energy. In addition, these solutions do not always respond to thermal and visual comfort problems. Numerous building simulation tools have been developed in this regard. The study generally focuses on predicting the results of interventions to selected buildings with these tools and making suggestions for a more efficient use. In the thesis, firstly related terms and concepts to the topic are explained. The breakthroughs made in the development process of the skyscrapers and their results, visual comfort parameters and the daylight evaluation systems are explained. After that, measurements and their results were explained, simulations were prepared based on two selected skyscrapers. Two skyscrapers were calibrated using data from measurements and simulations. The current daylight usage values of the selected skyscrapers are obtained, and different alternatives were tried with simulations. Visual comfort is increased in both buildings in all alternative scenarios created. In the thermal comfort analysis for the simulation period, the glass application gave more effective results in creating comfort compared to the shading element. Considering all this information, suggestions have been made to increase the visual comfort level of the two skyscrapers selected. The benefits of daylight analysis and climate-based daylighting methods for improving visual comfort in skyscrapers are mentioned.
