Abstract (EN)
In this study, the anesthetic effects of Ocimum basilicum L. and Eucalyptus globulus L. essential oils were investigated on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). In order to determine the anesthetic effect in the experiment, essential oils were prepared at concentrations of 20, 50, 70, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 mg/L Anesthesia induction and recovery times were determined for each fish. LC50 concentration of essential oils (10 min) on rainbow trout were determined at 70-400 mg/L. As a result of this study, O. basilicum at 300 mg/L dose and E. globulus essential oils at 400 mg/L dose showed ideal anesthetic effects on rainbow trout. Deep anesthesia induction (Stage 4) and recovery times at this concentration for E. globulus were found as 186 and 117.5 sec, respectively. Anesthesia induction (Stage 4) and recovery times were 220.5 and 61 sec for this concentration in O. basilicum essential oil, respectively. Death effect of essentil oils for rainbow trout were not seen. Consequently, this study was demostrated that O. basilicum and E. globulus essential oils can be used as effective and safe anesthetic in rainbow trout.
