Design of an embedded electronic stethoscope

Abstract (EN)

Auscultation method with classic stethoscope is very common method used in disease diagnosis nowadays. But it is not able to transmit much of the information to physician because of its weak structure. Therefore requirement of seeing and recording the sound which ear can't hear and classic stethoscope is not able to transmit has been appeared. For this purpose, stethoscopes are developed and computer-based analysis methods in disease diagnosis have been used. In this thesis, the embedded electronic stethoscope was designed. But in contradistinction to standard single channel electronic stethoscope used in common nowadays, 6 channel electronic stethoscopes which allow to receive heart and respiratory sounds simultaneously is designed. In the study, audio data received from six channels simultaneously pass through analog signal processing unit which consists of microphone driver, pre-amplifier, low pass filter, high pass filter, driver amplifier and DC level shifter respectively. Audio data received from output of DC level shifter is digitized with analog digital converter which is available internal in embedded computer. Embedded computer sends digitized audio data to server through TCP/IP protocol and server records received data to database momentarily. Data recorded database displayed recording T.C. identification number through desktop application developed using C sharp language and WEB application developed using ASP.Net and C Sharp languages. On the other hand recorded data can be downloaded through desktop and WEB application and can be displayed over a program developed in interface of Matlab GUI. Program can also apply to audio data using signal processing method like Digital Filtering, Fast Fourier Transform and Wavelet Transform.
