The opinions of newly appointed school administrators on the challenges they face: A case study

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of new school administrators about the difficulties they face. In line with this purpose, the opinions of the newly appointed school administrators in the province of Antalya, district of Manavgat about the difficulties they face were investigated using the case study design which is one of the qualitative research methods. The research is a case study with a descriptive holistic multiple case design. The answers given by the participants to the questions were included in the findings section and the common points were identified and selected and put into tables within this framework. As the documents were read, key sentences and text passages corresponding to those questions were tagged, other important but unexpected sentences and text passages were recorded, similarities in expressing the same concept were identified, and the categories and structures that appeared throughout this process were repeatedly compared with other data. As a result of the interviews, it was determined that the main problem of the participants with the managers and employees in the District Directorate of National Education was indifference and irresponsibility. Other problems experienced are the incompetence of these administrators, their taking sides and their style. The problems experienced by the participants with the teachers can be listed as communication and adherence to the rules of the previous administrator. At the beginning of the questions experienced with the students, communication arises again. In addition, students have difficulty in accepting the new manager for a while. The main problems experienced by the participants with the parents are indifference, complaints and disrespect. The main difficulty regarding the physical conditions is the lack of budget. Most of the equipment in the school is broken or outdated.
