Abstract (EN)

In this study, a Seeing with Sound System which can be used for the education of the visually impaired students was designed and developed in an action research process conducted with visually impaired students. This system which was designed to express the position and the shape of the two-dimensional objects with using the sound frequency and sound magnitude has taken its final form through working with four participants. After each session of 11 study sessions between December 04, 2008 and May 15, 2009, various revisions were made to the Seeing with Sound System. These revisions were made in consideration of the data gathered from the observations and the interviews during the research process with taking the views of the experts. The data gathered throughout the research process were analysed according to their characteristics with descriptive and content analysis. The success of the Seeing with Sound Systemwas determined with the achievement tests done by 10 visually impaired students. Considering the achievement tests prepared and applied with taking the views of experts, the system is considered to be succesful in expressing the position and the shape of the basic geometric figures providing a better seeing with sound than the criteria determined by the views of the experts.
