The influence of using concept cartoon materials on the students's successes at the visual arts course

The purpose of this research is to show the effects of using Consept cartoons as a metarial while teaching art lessons by compring it with traditional methods. For this purpose, some practises are done by preparing releated with ?from underground to museum? at the learning museum conscience area. Also, by developing cartoon success tests, the differences are examined between the pre and last tests? marks of the experiement and control groups. The research, which takes two weeks, is done at the two primary schools in Bursa-Osmangazi At random, the experiement and control groups are determined. At the experiement group cartoon activities, at the control group traditional methods are used. At the both groups the teaching is done by the researcers. In the research for the 7th grade students, the differences between the pre and last tests? of the experiment group and control groups are evaulated. The researces show us the results. There isn?t a meaningful difference between the pre tests? marks of the students at the experiment and control group who joined the research. They have the similar features with each other before the experimental work which is practised by using Consept Cartoons. This situation shows that there is a similarity between the both group students? knowledge levels related with the subject at the beginning of the process. At the experiment group, the students learned with the teaching process which Consept Cartoons were used. Pre and last tests? marks of these students have changed notably. The students at the experiment group used the Concept Cartoons process as the visual material at the ?from underground to museum? activitiy. In conclusion, it has been observed that these students? academical success at the Visual Art course has increased significantly. Some students learned by using traditional teaching process at the Visual Art course. How have the success levels of them changed? Pre and last tests were effected to answer this question. According to the result of the tests, it has been observed that there was a significant difference between the academical sucsesses of the students. Also, the researchers determined that the students? academical sucsesses increased at the last tests. So, the researchers explain this situation that we can support the students? academical successes at the courses which expression process is used. At the ?from underground to museum? activity, they used the traditional teaching process for the students at the control group and as a result, they observed that the students? successes increased. But at the same time, they observed that the students? marks at the experiment group were higher than the students? marks at the control group. It is determined that there is a significant difference between the pre and last tests? marks of the students at the experiment group who joined the research and the pre tests? marks of the students at the control group who joined the research. The difference between the pre and last tests? academical succsesses marks of the students at the experiment group who had the Visual Arts course by using Concept Cartoons has been higher than the pre and last tests? academical succsesses marks of the students at the control group who had the Visual Arts course by using traditional teaching process notably. The researchers have prepared a scale to determine the effect of using Concept Cartoons as visual materials at the Visual Arts course for the student success. When they analysed obtained marks from the students, they observed that there was an important difference between the last tests? marks of the students at the experiment and control group. It can be expressed that the marks of the experiment group at the result of the education by using Concept Cartoons have increased according to the marks of the control group at the result of the education by using traditional teaching process at the Visual Arts course. The success levels of the students at the experiment group have been higher than the group that had the traditional teaching (expression) process. In conclusion, this situation can be explained that the knowledge levels of the students who have the Visual Arts course with the help of Concept Cartoons have increased and have been affected more positively than the traditional processes.
