Abstract (EN)

In today's world, more diverse thinking skills are needed to make sense of information under rapidly changing conditions. This need also includes visual arts education. Concept-based education, by supporting three-dimensional learning, provides the development of conceptual thinking and a meaningful way to make sense of multiple information. In this context, the aim of the research is to reveal how the Graphic Design V course process, which is included in the undergraduate level Arts and Crafts Teaching Program within the scope of visual arts education, will be carried out based on the concept and to develop conceptual thinking. This research is designed as action research. The research was carried out in the Arts and Crafts Teaching Program of the Department of Fine Arts Education of the Faculty of Education of the state university. The participants of the research consisted of 8 students who attended the Graphic Design V course. During the research process, data were collected with various data collection tools and these data were analyzed inductively. As a result of the analysis, the data were evaluated under the top themes of "Concept-Based Teaching-Learning Process", "Reflections of Conceptual Thinking" and "Concept-Based Design Practices". As a result of the research, the Graphic Design course was ensured to be carried out in three-dimensional structure as concepts + lived facts + graphic design applications. In this context, it has been revealed that students develop conceptual thinking and make sense of themselves, their environment and visual designs by thinking together with the concept. The obtained results were discussed by comparing them with the literature, and at the end of the research, various suggestions were made for future practices and research.
