Teaching practices and learning experiences based on environmental awareness and sustainability in Visual Arts education

In the world we live in, "nature" responds to our needs for food, shelter and clothing. Natural disasters, diseases and extinction of environmental science-related species caused by environmental destruction and pollution caused by people under the name of "modernization" pose a threat to the continuity of human life. As a result of these destructions, many developments such as the problems facing the threat of extinction, changing climates, decreasing water resources as well as the unconscious use of production resources for the increasing population negatively affect the nature, environment and living things. The disappearance of our natural environment, the fact that people realize this destruction and try to save it brings new searches. These searches have led to the emergence of the concepts of "environmental awareness" and "sustainability". As a result of teaching and applying these concepts, methods that do not harm people and nature have been researched and areas of use have begun to be created in the field of art. Sustainability is a concept that can meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. With this research, it is aimed to provide environmental awareness to pre-service teachers studying in the art and art teaching department. awareness and experience with sustainability-based teaching practices future generations by raising awareness about these concepts. to provide an environmental awareness between art and nature. Also, reuse by using waste materials within the scope of the concept of sustainability. and aesthetic evaluation and by raising awareness, teacher candidates have a different and conscious perspective to raise children and young people.
