Developing STEAM-focused learning process in fine art teacher education

STEAM education also supports the acquisition of 21st century skills as an approach that aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics disciplines in an integrated way. In this research, it is aimed to increase the knowledge and skills related to STEAM in Fine Art teacher education, to plan and improve the STEAM-focused learning process. In this context, the action research design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The qualitative data obtained in the research were analyzed with the content analysis method through the Nvivo 12 qualitative data analysis program, and a holistic and detailed view was presented. The findings obtained as a result of the research were gathered under three headings: the pre-implementation process of the research, the implementation process and the findings related to the research questions. The preparations before the implementation process of the researcher were effective in the preparation of the action plan and the shaping of the course content. Despite the disadvantages of distance education, it is noteworthy that the students actively participated in the course, successfully completed the activities and performed above the expectations of the researcher during the implementation process. In the findings related to the research questions, the students' high motivation for the course, their interests and perspectives on STEAM education, their thoughts on STEAM education in the Fine Art course, the course process and the views of the participants were reached. As a result of the research, it has been determined that students' awareness of the necessity of STEAM education has increased, the importance of STEAM education in teacher education has been emphasized, the course process has a rich content, so such a course content should be spread over a longer period of time.
