Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Digital Image Processing technique is investigated both theoretically and experimentally using image-processing method. The passengers waiting on the platform are determined in terms of image density in order to find the approximate number of passenger. First, the gray-level image data is acquired by a CCD camera, the objects have been extracted from the background of the image by utilizing the image segmentation or intermediate level processing, and then using image enhancement technique the remaining objects are investigated in detail. In the next step, the area information has been extracted from the gray-scale histogram of the image of isolated objects. Finally, the passenger intensity values that will be used as the input for the optimization of the time between headways are calculated.
