Özet (EN)

Semiology is a theoretical approach which is apparent more in the written documents. Keeping in mind that every theory derives from a text, the relationship between semiology and the document cannot be denied. Semiology examines not only the texts, phrases and words, but also the sounds in order to demonstrate their socialcultural aspects in depth.Graphic design unites vision and text on the same level in regard to certain principles. Owing to its printing and duplicating possibilities, graphic design is a wider mass communication field. This quality makes graphical design a valuable tool in the fields such as information, demonstration and advertising. This field also reviews itself accoring to its inherent systems and principles. In this research the correlation between the aforementioned fields have been reviewed based on the knowledge level of the students and with this aim in mind a survey has been initiated on students who participate in both courses and who only participates in graphical design courses, whose answers has been used to further underline the relationship between semiology and graphic design.
