Abstract (EN)

Countries need foreign currencies to purchase required goods and services and exports is a major source of this currency demand. The ultimate goal of all policies has been to achieve trade surpluses by increasing exports and reducing imports levels which might be possible with the firms gradually accelerating their export amounts or new companies starting to export. Hence governments offer a range of incentive programs to encourage their domestic firms to increase export sales. The direct impacts of these incentives on export performances have been analyzed on numerous studies in the literature. Researchers of these studies both demonstrate the findings and show possible roadmaps for the businesses which are recommended to pursue. Researchers in many different countries tested this relation many times with more or less the same settings. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to find the strength and dimensions of this relationship. This research is based on a meta-analysis of the studies investigating the impacts of export incentives offered in Turkey, on the export performances of these companies. It has been aimed to reach more common and actual results by synthesizing diversified amount of incentives and firm performance data. Meta-analysis would be the proper methodology to compare and collect the internationally tested data. This research has examined the previous studies which of their correlation values were reachable. Within this research totally, 22 articles and 5316 exporting manufacturing company data were collected through a meta-analysis of 50 total effects. Our results demonstrated strong links between the export incentives and export financial performance, export non-financial performance and overall export performance of the firms globally. In addition, the linkages among export performance and incentive types have been delivered separately. Future meta-analysis studies should be executed to improve the global knowledge and dimensions of Export Performance. Keywords: Export Incentives, Government Incentives, State Aids, Subsidies, Export Performance.
