Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the relationships between time, location and count-oriented visual measurements obtained from a wearable eye tracker and test and item statistics. With this purpose, first of all, an achievement test consisting of 60 multiple-choice items which evaluates the outcomes of eighth grade Turkish, mathematics and science courses was developed and applied to 4848 students. Then, the test and item statistics for this test were calculated. Then, this test was administered to 60 high school students through a wearable eye tracker. The findings of the study revealed a negative and significant relationship between the visual measurements obtained by focusing on time and counting, and achievement scores. In addition, average focusing times showed a significant correlation with all other item statistics except the item discrimination index. In addition, time and count-oriented measures were determined as significant predictors of test scores obtained from the achievement test application. In addition, significant differences were found in favor of girls in the time passing until the first focus and in total visit times, and in favor of boys in the average visit times. Research results reveal the existence of a strong relationship between time-based measures and test and item statistics.
