Abstract (EN)
Many people are injured or killed each year in traffic accidents. About 30 percent of deaths in the accidents occur in the first few hours called ?golden hours?. In this study, using GPS and GPRS based wide area network, an application has been developed to reach injured people in the shortest time possible and provide efficient medical intervention. The application developed will send information of on the situation to hospitals which are suitable and nearest to the location of the traffic accident. The system consists of a vehicle unit and a server unit. When an accident occured, the vehicle unit sends identification and medical information on the individuals and position information obtained form the GPS to the server unit using GPRS. The server unit creates an accident report and sends it to hospitals that are suitable and closet to the location of the accident. The results of this study show it is possible to reach traffic accident injuries in a much shorter time than is presently possible and with the efficiency provided with prior medical data.
