Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, graphene oxide and graphene-based aramid composites were synthesized and their properties were investigated. Prepared graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, the graphene oxide/aramid, reduced graphene oxide/aramid samples were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XRD and Raman spectroscopy. In the study, effects of potassium persulphate, potassium dichromate and potassium permanganate on oxidation of graphite were determined and that potassium permanganate was more effective than the other oxidation agents in oxidation of graphite was observed. In the process of reduction of graphene oxide with hydrazine monohydrate and thermal methods, it was observed that thermal method was more efficient. In the study, that the mechanical properties of the samples which were mixed at a rate of 0.5% fillers (GO, iGO and Aramid/iGO) with a high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is a thermoplastic polymer was examined. Due to the presence of air bubble, the strength property of composite was affected negatively.
