Abstract (EN)

Myths are legends that tell the story of humanity's coming to the present, lead the way in the formation of societies, and form the foundations of cultures. All cultures have their own religions, histories, heroes and similar common myths. Mythology, which is defined as all of the myths in culture, takes its source from the problematic of self-formation and search, which forms the basis of humanity's existential search. Myths, which are effective in many fields of science such as sociology, psychology and philology, play an important role in the field of art and design. In this context, mythology, art and graphic design and their place in education constitute the reason for this study to establish a relationship with mythology. What makes visual arts and design two similar disciplines, using the same principles and elements, is their formal features that determine how designs will look when they are in their final form. Graphic design, which is a visual design branch, is a creative process that uses design principles and elements to convey a message and develop an image, and introduce it on two-dimensional or three-dimensional surfaces. Graphic design products, the scope of which can change according to the needs of the age, have a wide content such as corporate identity works on two-dimensional surfaces, publishing, posters, advertising and three-dimensional product packaging formed by folding and folding two-dimensional surfaces. In this study, shoe packages of Nike brand, a world-renowned sportswear company inspired by Greek Mythology, were analyzed in terms of graphic design elements and principles in the context of mythology and analyzed with descriptive content analysis. In line with these results, it revealed the function and importance of mythology in art and art education.
