Photograph and typography in graphic design

The aim of this thesis is to convey the historical adventures of photography and typography, which are the most two important elements that affect graphic design. In the first section of this thesis, definition, historical development and current efficacy of graphic design are being explained. Before explaining photography and typography, definition and history of graphic design should be fully apprehended. In the second section, a brief history of photography, the way that photography involved in people's life, the way it evolved both scientifically and visually, and its impacts on societies are being explained. Also its usage as a visual element in communication and advertising, its importance in graphic design within the digital era by the discovery of computer technologies are being expressed. The third section is dedicated to examination of typography. Historical development, its alteration by time and movements, current areas of use and its importance as a graphic design element is being identified. In this study, not only the effects of time on graphic design and its elements, but also the effects of usage of photography and typography in graphic design on societies are mentioned.
