Kinetic typography studies and applications in graphic design

From the past to the present, people have needed various communication tools to communicate with each other. While the first steps of communication were drawings on the cave walls, methods such as signal, sound and smoke were used later. The graphic design area that enables the messages used to meet the communication needs of individuals to be delivered to the masses by duplication, it is a communication element in which symbols, images, shapes, colors and writings are used as in prehistoric times. Typography, one of the sub-branches of graphic design; is the arrangement of the text in a certain form. Typographic designs created by bringing movement to typography through various software and blending emotion, color and dynamism in the text are called kinetic typography. The transition of typography from static to moving emerges as a new tool in the field of visual communication. Kinetic typography has a wide range of uses such as television broadcasting, commercials, video art, music clips, web designs, portfolio designs, corporate logo presentations, social media designs, computer games promotional videos and movie credits. The main purpose of this study; Is to reveal the usage areas of kinetic typography and to examine how it is applied. Also; The aim is to provide information about the use of kinetic typography in movie credits designs, the works of artist Saul Bass, who put forward the first examples in the historical process, and to contribute to the literature by making sample movie credits applications in this context.
