Investigation of induced beta-lactamase (ibl) activity in gram negative rods and its profile of antibiotic resistance

Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study; The aim of this study was to determine the inducible beta-lactamase activity of Gramnegative bacilli isolated from inpatients and to reveal the antibiotic resistance profiles. Methodology: In this study, the samples of urine, blood, sputum, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), wound and abscess lavage taken from patients who were treated at different clinics of Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences Hospital were taken from the patient under sterile conditions, Isolates were incubated in a liquid broth at 37°C for 48 hours. Gram staining method was applied tothis bacteria. Samples with Gram negative appearance were cultured on blood agar, chocolate agar, EMB agar and saboroud dextrose agar media and incubated at 37°C for 16-24 hours. The bacteria breeding on EMB agar were included in the study. EMB agar in breeding strains, VITEK-2 fully automated device identification was achieved by advanced biochemical tests 4-6 hours. The same device gave results of antibiotic susceptibility results of P. aeruginosa, E.cloacae complex, P. mirabilis, S.marcescens, M.morganii, S.liquefaciens group and P.rettgeri species in 16-24 hours. For the inducible beta-lactamase research, we planted the Müeller-Hinton agar separately. Imipenem (10 μg) was used as the inducing agent and the distance between the discs was placed on the surface of the medium to be 20 mm. Findings: Inducible beta-lactamase activity was determined in 92 of 104 isolates included in the study.The bacteria with the highest beta-lactamase activity were P.aeruginosa, whereas the least beta-lactamase activity was determined as S.marcescens.P.aeruginosa species bacteria most commonly to PIP/Tazo, S. marcescens type bacteria colistin, P.mirabilis type bacteria ampicillin, cefrazidime, ceftriaxone, cefuroxime and cefuroxime-aksetil, E.cloacae complex type bacteria ampicillin, cefoxitin and amoxicillin, and other species showed resistance to ampicillin, colistin, amoxicillin, cefuroxime and cefuroxime-axetil. P. aeruginosa bacteria of the species most surgical clinics, S.marcescens and P. mirabilis bacteria of the species in internal departments, E.cloaca complexe type bacteria were isolated from patients in clinical pediatrics.
