Investigation of technical properties of granite tile body using sepiolite additive

Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, effects on techinal properties of samples obtained by using Eskişehir region gray and Brown sepiolite in granite body were ınvestigated. Fort his aim gray and brown sepiolites were added proportion of 1%, 3% and 5% to the standar granite masse respectivly which consist of Kaolenite, Feldpar and Quartz. Samples were shaped on dimensions 10x20 cm2 by dry pressing under pressure of 160 bar and were fired at working conditions. (1185 °C 39 min.-granite tile regime) Firing shirinkage , strenght and water absorbtions properties samptes were determined. Firing shirinkage % ratio were increased by adding gray and Brown sepiolite in furnace were decreased by adding gray and brown sepiolite. The base receipts water absorption was 0,49%. The receipts water absorption was decreased to 0,04% by addition of 5% Brown sepiolite and the receipts water absorption was decreast to 0,0395% by addition of 5% gray sepiolite. Strenght values of samples that were consist of 7 different receipts and fired at the temperature of 1185°C , increased by adding gray and brown sepiolite to base receipt.
