Özet (EN)

In this study, active Power Factor Correction (PFC) pre-converter is designed to bring the line current in phase with the line voltage and to make its waveform sinusoidal. By studying the theory and the design of active Power Factor Correction, the simulation of PFC is done by Powersim packet program and its waveform is obtained. In practical design, Power Factor Correction is achieved with MC33260 controller which works in discontinuous mode as a pre-converter. The waveforms of the simulation and practical design circuit are compared. As the load for PFC, multiple output Flyback converter is preferred and its design is analyzed. In Flyback converter design, the selection and the calculation of all the SMPS circuit elements and its transformer are described. By using a controller which has an internal switch that works in the current control mode and 22W Flyback converter is designed. The current waveforms of multiple output Flyback converter with and without PFC are obtained and compared. It is observed that the line current waveform of power factor corrected multiple output Flyback converter is in the same phase with the line voltage. It indicates that a corrected power factor close to 1 is achieved.
