Özet (EN)
This study, "The Place and Significance of Güllüdere Iron AgeSettlement in the Archaeology of the Northeastern Anatolia", deals with thescientific results of the archaeological excavations executed at the Güllüderesettlement and necropolis area which are located approximately 1 km northof modern Güllüdere Village.Stone foundations of rectangular and square planned buildings, stonepavements, hearths and burials were revealed during the archaeologicalexcavations. Iron Age and Medieval pottery fragments and small finds wererecovered in and around of the buildings and burials. Güllüdere excavationsmade significant contribution to our limited knowledge about Eastern Anatoliain the Iron Age and Medieval Periods.Archaeological material studied in this thesis indicated the existence ofan Iron Age settlement, which could be broadly dated between 8th and 6thcenturies B.C. The material remains recovered here provide significant cluesabout the socio-political, socio-economic and cultural structures of thesocieties which are fairly unknown due to the lack of written records.
