Abstract (EN)

In this study, new carbene precursors 2a-j were synthesized by attaching alkyl groups with different volumes and functional groups attached to nitrogen to 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole. Ag-NHC complexes 3a-i were synthesized by interacting these synthesized compounds with Ag2O. The synthesized structures were elucidated by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and microanalysis techniques. Then, the antimicrobial activities of these compounds were found in the Fungal subgroup Yeasts C. albicans (SC5314/ ATCC MYA-2876) and C. glabrata (ATCC 2001), Bacteria E. coli (ATCC 25922), S. aureus (ATCC 29213) and P. aeruginosa. (ATCC 27853) MIC (μg/ml) values were analyzed and calculated. When the MIC values for the antimicrobial activities of benzimidazolium salts (2a-j ) were examined, compounds 2d and 2e have showed the most activity against S. Aureus bacteria by 12,5 µg/mL MIC value. Also 2a, 2c, 2f, 2g compounds have showed antimicrobial activities and MIC values were calculated for them. When the antimicrobial activities of new Ag-NHC compounds (3a-i) were examined, it has been observed that 3b compound is the most effective compound against all types of bacteria and yeast. Especially to C. glabrata yeast by 6,25 µg/mL MIC value. Also antimicrobial activites have been observed on 3c, 3d, 3f, 3g compounds and MIC values are calculated for each of them.
