Recently viruses anda bacterias are threatening the mankind. Almost every single day new type of them is being reproduced and besides that, their resistance to the antibiotics are getting even stronger. Evolving technology are planning to find the newest way to fight with the illnesses that viruses and bacterias cause. For this point of view, antimicrobial materials are gleaming for the usage.Over the past decades significant attention to the nanotechnology in medicine was given due to unique properties and the large surface area of nano particles. Especially copper, zinc, titanium, magnesium, gold and silver and their oxides are the materials that show strong antimicrobial effect. Among all those materials silver has a wide usage as an antimicrobial agent. On the other hand titanium is also sparkling in this area. Titanium not only has antimicrobial effect, but also it can be used as a photocatalyst. The latest researchs show that Ag doped TiO2 in nano scale has the effect of killing virus and bacterias.In this master thesis, first of all nano scale Ag-TiO2 nano composite powder with various Ag contents were synthesized with the help of hydrothermal synthesis under high temperature and high pressure. After that they were compared with the pure TiO2 nano powder which synthesized under the same conditions using SEM and TEM anaysis. Stable colloidal suspensions were preapered using those nano powders and 3-D metallic filters were coated using electrophoretic deposition method under definite time and voltage. Finally the antimicrobial efficiency both nano powders and coated filters were investigated with different tests.
