Research for determining the people's level of knowledge and awareness about disasters, in köse county in Gümüşhane

Our research which completed in Kose County which in Gümüşhane province aims to determine the people's level of consciousness and basic knowledge about disasters. Research has been done in June and July of 2013 in Kose County of Gümüşhane. Sampling is selected with random stratification method with 1/10 ratio and has been applied to participants who agreed. In this research, earlier researches have been scanned and the obtained data with survey technique has been analyzed with SPSS 15 software. Chi-square test has been used for statistical analysis. The survey consisted of 20 questions. The first three questions are the age, education and gender poses questions. The remaining 17 questions are questions for detecting participants knowledge about disasters and states of consciousness. For the research, 254 questionnaire form were filled with face-to-face interview technique. End of our research, it has been determined that our people does not have adequate knowledge and awareness about disasters and depending on level of education, knowledge rate is increasing and female participants' knowledge and awareness about disasters is lower than men.
