Abstract (EN)

In line with current developments in working life such as changes in organizational structures, employment relations, and workforce structure, the traditional career approach has started to being replaced by new career approaches that exhibit a more dynamic and active structure. In conjunction with the rise of new career approaches such as "boundaryless career" and "protean career", the subjective aspect of career success different from the traditional career approach where career success is addressed in line with objective criteria has been started to be emphasized. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to determine whether new career approaches affect individuals' career success or not. In addition, whether the work-life balance has a moderator role on this effect has been examined. As a secondary purpose of the study whether the participants' boundaryless career attitudes, protean career attitudes, subjective career success perceptions, and work-life balances differ according to demographic factors has been investigated. The research was conducted on 400 white-collar employees who work in private sector enterprises in Istanbul. To test the hypotheses; simple, multiple, and hierarchical regression analyzes were performed. T-test and one-way analysis of variance were used for difference tests. As a result of the study, it was determined that boundaryless career attitude and protean career attitude have a positive effect on subjective career success, but no significant effect was observed on objective career success. The moderator role of work-life balance on the effect of boundaryless career attitude and protean career attitude on subjective career success has been determined. Furthermore, it was determined that boundaryless career attitude differs significantly according to income level, protean career attitude and work-life balance differ significantly according to age group, and subjective career success differs significantly according to promotion, income, position, and age group.
