Abstract (EN)
This study is intended to examine the relationship between human and the concept of ?fear? based on social, cultural, political and scientific development. In some cases fear is evaluated on the basis of relations with the political power while in others it is considered only as a psychological state. Stimulators of fear that vary through different periods of time, their reflections in art's history, are examined on a parallel base with the change in art's language.For this study, fear that arise from surveillance society, war, and environmental destruction is highlighted, and by using studies in such fields as philosophy, sociology, and psychology, the works of artists that have shown interest in these subjects have been reviewed in the context of technology.Altough approaches and understandings of contemporary art are taken as a basis, references from works of various artists of the past period have been taken up in order to better locate the concept of fear in art history,While considering the reflections of the concept of fear on art history, literary works and their analysis on present society have been utilized.The first part of the study consists of the concept of fear and its related sub-concepts. In the second part, along with the sub-concepts of fear, analysis has been made on surveillance society, technology, war, and environmental destruction by using works of art history and finally artist-concept-context relations has been drawn. In the third part, with the application studies, these themes which we can observe its samples in art history has been intrepreted in a more current languageWhile the concept of fear has been evaluated as a problem throughout the study, its property which pushes the artist's imagination to extreme levels has been observed at the end of the study. Moreover, we can think that, present art is developing over conceptual thinks.
