Abstract (EN)
The concept of curatorship; which has been changing and developing during the period since its inception in the Roman times is an effective actor, especially in Contemporary Art. The role of the curator, which increased its effectiveness with the Avant-Garde Movement and established a narrative in Contemporary Art with photography that turned into an art form, is discussed within the context of its historical process and its change and development is told through important curators and exhibitions. The dissertation, which is comprised of the two main parts of Contemporary Art and Photography, not only examines the roles of the curator of preserving and exhibiting but also the role of establishing a narrative. In order to improve the effectiveness of this role, influential names in the history of photography are reinterpreted as Cabinets of Curiosities as suitable for how the role was born and, in order to capture the contemporary cabinets, organized as an artistic exhibition.
