Wikileaks effect on Turkish press in terms of agenda setting theory

The agenda setting effect of the internet via national scaled newspapers was evaluated in this study, which is entitled ?`The Structural Transformation of News Source? Internet as a Global Source and Wikileaks Effect on the Agenda of Turkish Press?. To evaluate this effect, the frequency and the type of the reflections the wires of the US diplomats, which were publisped on Wikileaks internet site, to the Turkish national press between 20 October 2012 and 16 March 2012 was analyzed. The results of the content analysis were compared with the total number of tne news and their general characteristics and the agenda setting effect of the global news source internet on the national scaled newspapers was determined. The six national scaled newspapers were analyzed, which are Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Posta, Yeni Çağ, Yeni Şafak and Zaman in alphabetical order. The subject was evaluated under the concept of Maxwell McCombs? and Donald L. Shaw?s ?ağenda setting theory? along with the ?technologic determinism approach? of which Marshall McLuhan was one of the representatives. The results were analyzed and it is proved with the data that the internet is passed beyond its the news delivering identity and it became ne news source itself.
