Drying agricultural products under solar chimney greenhouse cover; Batman Sason strawberry sample

In this thesis, the drying kinetics of Sason strawberries under the greenhouse cover of the Solar Chimney were experimentally investigated. While the Solar Chimneys produce electricity on the one hand, on the other hand, the suitability of drying agricultural products by using the heat energy under the greenhouse cover has been investigated in order to make the unused solar chimney greenhouse cover areas usable. In this study, first of all, the greenhouse cover area was painted with black paint in order to increase the efficiency of the Solar Chimney. Hot water running with solar energy was provided under the greenhouse cover. Strawberry slices sliced in different sizes (3mm, 5mm, 7mm) and unsliced whole strawberry samples were dried at certain points under greenhouse cover. The air temperature and air velocity at the drying point of the dried samples, drying time, mass changes, humidity rates, outdoor temperature and instantaneous solar radiation were measured and the data were recorded. With the data obtained, the drying performance under the greenhouse cover and the drying performance in the natural (open area) environment were compared. In addition, drying directions and drying points of strawberry samples dried under the greenhouse cover of Güneş Chimney were compared and the most ideal drying area and drying direction were determined.
