Abstract (EN)
These Solar Power Plants (SPPs) play a critical role in environmentally friendly and sustainable energy production. However, there are many factors that affect the efficiency of these systems. One of these factors is cable losses. Cable losses refer to the energy loss that occurs for various reasons during the transmission of electrical energy from solar panels to energy storage or distribution points. This study deals with different parameters affecting cable losses in solar power plants and methods of calculating these losses. The main parameters affecting cable losses include cable length, cross-sectional area, material resistance, current density and environmental conditions. The effect of each parameter on cable losses is analyzed in detail and calculation methods are presented. The findings of the study include the following basic recommendations for minimizing cable losses: Cable Length: Reducing cable length reduces resistance and hence energy losses. Cross Sectional Area: Using cables with a larger cross-sectional area reduces the resistance value, thereby reducing losses. Material Selection: Using low resistance materials reduces energy losses. Current Density: To reduce the current density, cables of appropriate cross-section should be selected and the overall design of the system should be optimized. Environmental Conditions: Appropriate insulation and protection measures should be taken considering the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) where the cable is placed. This study provides a comprehensive guide on calculating and optimizing cable losses in solar power plants to increase energy efficiency and reduce operating costs. It aims to be a valuable resource for engineers and technicians involved in the design and application of solar energy systems, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable use of renewable energy systems.
