Abstract (EN)

Interest in renewable energy systems has increased in recent years due to the decreasing of fossil fuel resources and their harmful effects on the environment. The most used renewable energy types are produced by wind, solar, hydroelectric, and geothermal energy systems. Solar energy is the most preferred type of energy after wind energy in Turkey. In recent years, many studies on solar energy have been conducted in Turkey. STATCOM, which is used in solar and wind energy systems, has recently become a frequent element for reactive power compensation and voltage control of choice. In this study, voltage regulation and reactive power change were examined on the distribution line using the STATCOM element in a solar power plant. The system, which includes a solar power plant and STATCOM, was simulated in the MATLAB environment. Fuzzy Logic and PI controller were used in STATCOM control. As a result of the study, it was determined that STATCOM could improve system performance, be used as a voltage regulator, and balance reactive power. It has also been observed that STATCOM can provide active power stably and perform reactive power exchange for reactive power compensation in a fairly short period of time. Keywords: Solar Energy, PI Controller, STATCOM, Fuzzy Logic
