Abstract (EN)
Energy has been among the most basic needs of humanity throughout history. The use of fossil fuels, which found mass and intense consumption especially with the increasing population and the beginning of the industrial revolution, has continued to increase until today. In addition to serious problems such as environmental problems, climate crisis, and climate migration, it has been proven by scientific data that fossil fuels may become depleted in the near future. Countries have been following strategies to increase the use of renewable energy sources in order to reduce the negative effects of fossil fuels. Countries that achieve to increase the use of renewable energy sources in energy usage will reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and at the same time diversify their domestic energy supply. Production from renewable energy sources is carried out through renewable energy systems and installations. Although there has been a significant decrease in the cost of electricity production from renewable energy, especially solar and wind energy, it is not yet cheaper than the cost of electricity production from fossil fuels. Various support schemes are implemented in Türkiye, as the other countries also have, the efficiency of these support schemes in Türkiye should be reviewed. This thesis examines the renewable energy support schemes adopted in the world and in Türkiye, in particularly in solar and wind energy and reviews the current regulations from the perspective of international law and Turkish law.
