As the mechanisms of the societies to understand and perceive the world, mentalities are the conveyors of the structures that link the human beings to the society and frames of mind and understanding the world of every single individual. The forms of mentality which are the ways of thinking, perceiving and expressing the life of the societies as a whole, -and immanent to each individual- defines all of the lifetime practices which are the denotations of mankind?s approach to life. In this manner, it can also be told that artistic creations are determined by the mental structures which are originally immanent to human beings. The mentality/culture forms which can be defined as a wide and comprising ring and which are taken up as art in general and as determinant of cinema in particular, constitutes the most fundamental element which gained the genuine structure to the creation forms in Anatolia. The narration tradition which sources the cinema in Turkey, has a close relationship with these mental processes. In order to understand the cinema releated formations in Turkey, it is necessary that its interaction with this mental/cultural process should be evaluated. The course of this work is constituted by to approach from an historical perspective and study the problem of meaning creation of the Turkish cinema and to go deeper into the origins of the cultural forms and mentalities that exist in Anatolia and to define, in another meaning to identify them and nevertheless to define whether if these structures has changed or not and to study how they reflect to the Turkish cinema. In this manner in the first chapter, the fundamental belief and sentiments that constitute Anatolian culture have been studied and how these sentiment forms created a world and reality perception and expressed in conventional arts have been set forth. In the second chapter, the relationship of cinema with the reality has been studied while what kind of an art is cinema in origin and how it structured its existence and to which processes does cinema owe its existence have taken as a principle. Besides, the dramatic narrative form of cinema is studied and that the dramatic structure is connected with some mental processes that belongs to the written culture is set forth. In addition to this, the traditional Anatolian narrative forms are widely based on oral cultural structure and that is the result of the mental processes in Anatolia and that these narrative forms are far from the dramatic structure is tried to be put forth. In the third chapter, in the light of all issues mentioned above, the meaning creation in the chosen films are studied and reached the conclusion that the patterns and the conventions that are created in the traditional narrations by the perception and mentality in Anatolia are still alive in different forms in the nowadays cinema and these unchanged mental processes are continuing to shape the nowadays Turkish cinema.
