The effects of wrestling and skiing trainings on some respiratory parameters

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the effects of wrestling and skiing trainings on some respiratory parameters. A total of 45 male volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 participated in the study. The volunteers participating in the study consisted of professional skiers (n = 15) who regularly train and constituted the first group, professional wrestlers (n = 15) who regularly train and constituted the second group, and sedentary (n = 15) men, who constitıuted the third group. In the study, a spirometer (Pony Fx, Italy) device was used to measure some respiratory parameters (FEV1, FEV1 / FVC (%), PEF, FEF25-75%, VC, MVV) of the subjects. SPSS 20 package software was used for the analysis of obtained data. In order to test the hypotheses of the study, the One Way Anova test was conducted for multiple comparisons, and the Tukey test was carried out to determine the difference between the groups, and the significance value was found to be p <.05. The findings showed no statistically significant difference in the FEV1 (L), FEV1/FVC%, and VC (L) values of the groups who participated in the study (p>.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the groups in FEF25-75%, PEF and MVV values (p <.05). Consequently, it can be said that while wrestling and skiing trainings elicit positive effects on PEF, FEF25-75%, and MVV parameters, they do not trigger any change in the FEV1, FEV1/FVC (%), VC parameters.
