Structure and theme in Gürsel Korat's novels

Gürsel Korat (Sağlamöz), presents works in literary genres such as novel, story, and essay after 1990, in republic-period Turkish literature. In this study, novels of the author were handled. Our study includes two partitions. The first one includes information about the life, thoughts on literature, resources he made use of, and his literary identity. In the second partition which forms the center of our study, novels (Zaman Yeli, Güvercine Ağıt, Kalenderiye, Rüya Körü, Ay Şarkısı), technique, thematic editing of the author were examined. Theorical resources were used in our examination on his novel technique. While analyzing the thematic editing; we made use of philosophy, sociology, psychology, psychoanalytic, and history disciplines. Gürsel Korat, writes five novels between the years 1994-2010. Three of these novels are the three of the roman stream series named 'Çiftaslan Tetralogy' Other two are works that reveals the novelist's different extents. Novels of Korat are built on existential questionings, freedom, marginalization, and time theme. In the center of the narratives of the novelist who frequently transfers the contemporary problems of today's people via a platform of the past to the reader, stands the human and humanistic ones. In the conclusion part of our study, we evaluated the novel authorship of Gürsel Korat. In the appendix, we presented the photographs of the author, and deciphered version of the voice record that was carried out on 19th December 2013, and which was checked by the author himself.
