Abstract (EN)

In today's life, there are various inspection methods to prevent the negative effects of the continuously increasing noise problem that are caused by technological improvements and population growth. In cases, where the most effective and the economical way of "inspection of the source" is not enough, regulation of the "the media" which the sound propagates while reaching the receiver is required. At this stage, acoustic barriers are one of the utilizable leading noise prevention methods. Natural or artificial, noise barriers are effective at creating city areas which are conserved from noise and reducing the noise before reaching the structure. The studies involving noise barriers so far showed that, caps added to barriers improve the effectiveness of the barriers. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to determine the effects of the types of the barrier caps while reducing the noise on a residential structure, including the assessment on the different floors. For this purpose, eight different cap types are determined and the noise reduction levels are compared to the conventional by the help of simulation calculations. As a result, multiple edge barriers are found to be most effective barrier type than the conventional barriers. Furthermore, it is shown that, there is no significant effect in noise reduction on the structures that are high-rise and far away from highways.
