Student opinions on the graduate program in fine arts education

To provide a qualified education, it is necessary to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current education system and implement necessary changes based on the findings. Within the scope of this thesis, the Master's Program in Art Teaching at the Department of Fine Arts Education at Anadolu University, one of the most established universities in our country, was examined based on student opinions. In the research, the basic qualitative research approach, one of the qualitative research methods, was deemed appropriate. The collected data aimed to explore the content and implementation processes of the master's program. For this purpose, a group of six master's students was selected as participants. Semi-structured interviews, one of the most commonly used data collection tools in qualitative research, were conducted with the participants. The data obtained through semi-structured interviews were analyzed using the "descriptive analysis" method. The findings revealed that lessons should be as practice-oriented as possible, discussion-based, and interdisciplinary; workshops should be well-equipped; online courses were generally not efficient enough; and research topics should be left to the students' discretion.
