Abstract (EN)
In this study, different proportions of h-BN were added to the cordierite composition obtained from zeolite. The sintering behavior, some mechanical and thermal properties of the samples obtained by sintering the compositions for different periods were examined. Thanks to these features, it is aimed to use cordierite as an alternative material to integrated circuit underlays and electronic packaging materials. 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% h-BN was added to the cordierite composition prepared in accordance with the determined stoichiometry to facilitate machinability and increase thermal conductivity, and these compositions were coded as BN 5, BN 10, BN 15, and BN 20, respectively. After powder preparation and shaping, the compositions were sintered at 1350 ° C in 1 lt / min Argon (Ar) atmosphere for 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The produced bulk materials were analyzed by XRD, SEM, and EDS, and their sintering behavior was determined by determining the total firing shrinkage, density measurement, apparent pore amount, and water absorption amount. Afterward, their thermal properties such as specific heat, thermal diffusivity, and thermal conductivity were examined, their workability was investigated by measuring their hardness. Cordierite, spinel phase, glassy phase, and h-BN phase were detected in samples sintered at all times, and it was observed that the cordierite in block form turned into coaxial grains with the increase of h-BN phase. It was observed that the total firing shrinkage and density decreased with the increase in h BN addition, and the amount of visible pores and water absorption increased. When the three sintering times were compared, it was concluded that 90 min sintering time is the ideal sintering time. According to the results obtained from the thermal conductivity test, it was determined that the BN 10 sample has the highest thermal conductivity value in all three sintering times. As a result of the workability tests, it was determined that the hardness decreased, and the machinability properties of the samples increased with the increase of h-BN addition.
