Vocabulary and Word Stock of H. Nihal Atsız

Words, which are the components of language used for transferring culture, form phrases through various connections of meaning. These word groups have significant functions within sentences. They deepen and enrich meaning, enabling effective and beautiful speech. Vocabulary helps us to recognize intellectual realms of authors and poets who spread and sustain language, which is the basic component of culture. It helps to understand their dreams, ideas, lives and worldviews. Vocabulary is also significant in forming and transferring values, lives and concepts of communities. Vocabulary in the works of Hüseyin Nihal Atsız, one of the most significant personalities of Turkish nation and a prominent author and poet of Republic era with his unique style, was identified, his intellectual realm and contributions to Turkish language were studied. This study initially reveals life, language, style and literary personality of Atsız, followed by a study of vocabulary in his works in terms of word groups.
