Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to explore the reasons of how 19th century composer/ violinist Heinrich Wilhelm ERNST's name and his contributions to the violin repertoire are almost forgotten after his death. Observation of the major techniques used by him was made and compared to the similar works of other compositors of the same era. To do this, examples are made from exercise and etude/caprice works of other composers to help mastering these major techniques used by Ernst and comments about practising and interpretation are made by author of the thesis, when necessary. Furthermore, the lack of sources about Ernst in Turkish language together with the rarity of worldwide sources about him were the main motives to work on an introduction and basic source about Ernst in Turkish language. Keywords: Ernst, Violin, Technique, Education, Repertoire
