Hacı Hulûsî Baba's divan

Bâkî, an Ottoman poet of the 16th century, says in one of his poems: "Let your scream come out to the world like Davut did/ It is a pleasant voice in this eternal sky dome". Although it may seem difficult to stay long in this world which is mortal, writers and poets eliminate the problem of survival with their works. Especially the name of a person who has a mosque in his name in Fatsa district of Ordu, like Hacı Hulûsî Baba, will remain in the mortal world. Besides, the fact that he was a poet makes him a pleasant voice in the sky dome. Hacı Mehmet Hulûsî ERER, was born in Çamlıhemşin district of Rize as a citizen of Ottoman Empire in the end of XIX - in 1871- and died in Fatsa district of Ordu in XX. Century -1936- as a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, which is the successor of the Ottoman Empire. He spent 33 years of his life in Arabia, Turkestan, Afghanistan, Bukhara, Balkh, Tatarstan, Nogayistan and Merginan to learn religious doctrines, methods, tafsir, hadith, fiqh, prophetic biography, science of morals and islamic sufism. In those places, he learnt Arabic, Persian and Russian, then came to Fatsa and built an islamic monastery where he tried to spread the doctrines of the Kadirî sect. When all the lodges were closed by a law in 1925, his lodge was turned into a mosque and Hacı Hulûsî Baba became the imam of the mosque. He worked as a mudarris, imam, coroner judge and mufti in Fatsa. Hacı Hulûsî Baba has a catechism of islam, written with masnavi verse style and called as "İslâm Manzûmesi"; a prose book in arabic which is called "Kitâb-ı Bürhân-ı Etkıyâ Ehâdis-i Sultân-ı Enbiyâ" and a divan called "Divan-i Hulûsî" which is the subject of our study. There are 335 poems in this "divan" in which religious-mystical poems take place. All of the poems are written in Ottoman Turkish, and 297 ghazals, 7 müstezad, 4 verse, 21 murabba, 1 pentastich and 5 müseddes style. Although the majority of his poems are written with aruz vezins, some of his poems are written with syllabic meter. While transcribing some of the utterances that are in the "Hacı Hulûsî Baba Dîvân", it is made in accordance with the style of utterance at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century.
