Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of cupping application on aerobic capacity and recovery in athletes. Athletes (n=30) participating in the study, 10 of them in the pre-exercise cupping group (EMC) (age: 21.20 ± 1.87 years; training age: 10.50 ± 2.55 years; height: 176.40 ± 0.54 cm; body weight: 71.23 ± 11.48 kg), 10 post-exercise cupping group (ESH) (age: 22.90 ± 1.19 years; training age: 11.30 ± 1.76 years; height: 179.10 ± .02 cm; body weight: 79.52 ± 10.18 kg) and Ten of them were divided into three different groups as the control group (KG) (age: 20.90 ± 1.44 years; training age: 9.80 ± 2.30 years; height 183.50 ± 0.67 cm; body weight: 73.37 ± 8.83 kg). Participants' blood lactate, heart rate, Yoyo-1 and perceived difficulty levels (AZD) values were determined as pre-test and post-test. SPSS 24 package program was used in the statistical analysis of the study. Paired Samples T-Test was used for intra-group pre- and post-test comparisons, and Multivariate ANOVA (MANOVA) Test was used for pre- and post-test comparisons between groups, Bonferroni test was used to determine between which groups the differences were and the significance level was accepted as p<0.05. As a result, it was seen that cupping application before exercise had a positive effect on aerobic capacity, and although there was no statistically significant difference on recovery, the increase in numerical values also positively affected recovery. It has been determined that cupping after exercise has a positive effect on recovery. Keywords: Athlete, Blood, Lactate, Performance, Wet Cupping
