Science of indexing the hadith and investigating "Fihrist al-Bukhari" by Ahmed bin Taha Zadeh

In this study, we investigate and examine the manuscript written by "Ahmed bin Taha bin Mustafa bin Taha Zadeh" who lived in Aleppo city, one of the most important ottoman cities during the ottoman era mid-eighteenth century AD (D. 1187/1173). The manuscript is called "Fihrist al-Kutub wal-Abwab min al-Bukhari al-Sherif" written with the handwriting of its author, indexing the famous book of Imam al-Bukhari "Sahih al-Bukhari" and mentioning the titles of the chapters, sections and parts, thus, this index has been examined and carefully prepared. The study includes a definition of Hadith indexing, consisting of three chapters: Studying the science of indexing, examining the manuscript and investigating it. The first chapter deals with the concept of the word "fihris" in Arabic, and the types of indexes that have evolved in the books of hadith with the passage of time in different historical eras. also the indexing at times when printing spread, and extrapolating scholars efforts who have been in the field of indexing the hadith and have become pioneers in the era of technological development. In the investigation chapter, the life of the author Ahmed B. Taha Zadeh, his professors, his time, scientific efforts in addition to a comprehensive definition of the book and its place and methodology of its author, and documenting its relevance to the author all have been investigated. The third chapter, which is the pillar of the study, the manuscript text has been validated and corrected. The formal aspect of the manuscript also has been maintained with respect to text revisions, checking and pointing to its mistakes in the footnotes and adding explanatory information.
