Evaluation and results of Câriye hadith in terms of hadith technique

The narration that we discussed in our study has become famous in the hadith literature, under the name of, "Câriye Hadith". This narration is of particular relevance to the scholars in iman (faith) subjects in terms of dialogue based on the question-answer between the Prophet Hz. Muhammad (saw) and a female slave. The relevance of this narration has been connected with the names and attributes of Allah thus it is mandatory to understand it correctly. In fact, we are of the opinion that the determination of the position of the Câriye Hadith in the hadith terminology will lead us to understand the narration. The Cāriye Hadith, which we evaluated in three parts, was briefly mentioned with an introductory chapter about the purpose and importance of the subject. In the same chapter, we often encounter the essence of the hadith; We have briefly explained the concepts such as female slave, fortune and soothsayer to help understanding of the subject. In the first and second chapter which constitutes the basis of our thesis, we evaluated the Câriye Hadith in terms of isnâd and matn. In this chapters, we have made an effort to gather and compare the narrations about Câriye Hadith under two headings,first heading (chapter one) we comopare within Kutub at-Tis'a and the second heading (chapter two) we compare within hadith books other than Kutub at-Tis'a. In addition, we have tried to criticize all the narrations among themselves. In the third chapter, we have covered how Câriye Hadith is reflected in Islamic sciences. In this context, after separating the hadith into two chapters, fiqh and kalâm, we examined the narrations of the hadith in talking during salah (namaz), and the penance of female slave liberation have been outlined under the title of four Islamic sects. We discussed the speech part of the hadith, which was based on sand fortunes, reading omens, oracle visits and question-answer, under the title of kalâm. After approach about the concept of muhkam-mutashâbih and interpretation, we shared some examples about mutashâbih texts of interpretation. As a result of all these evaluations, we have thought about our opinion in the matter of the Câriye Hadith in the conclusion section. In brief, the question-answer part between the Prophet Hz. Muhammad (saw) and a female slave should never be taken into account in the external meaning of hadith (zahir). Because if we look at the situation on the external meaning, it may mean that -Hasha (far from it)- Allah can be in a place, it is clear that this matter will contradict the reasonable and rumor evidences. This narration should be preferred in accordance with the meaning of the Shahada (the Muslim profession of faith) as mentioned in other hadith examples, or should be interpreted in accordance with the essence of the Islamic understanding by considering that it is mutashâbih hadiths.
