Abstract (EN)

One of the basic religious practise of İslam is prayer (salat). Salat is a practise that strengthens a person's connection with God (Allah) and provides balance in one's life. Another prayer that puts a Muslim's life in order is tahajjud. Tahajjud is a voluntary prayer which one should pray in the later part of the night, between İsha'a and fajr after getting some sleep. The revelation of the verses that order the tahajjud before salat, sawm, and zakat are made obligatory, reveals the importance of tahajjud. In addition, the presence of expressions praising the believers who prostrate to Allah during the night is a sign of this. Prophet Muhammad and his companions performed this prayer. Later, a facilitation was introduced in the twentieth verse of Surat al-Muzzammil and this obligation was lifted for Muslims except for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This prayer is encouraged by the Qur'an, even though it is a voluntary one for the Ummah. In this regard, Prophet Muhammad is the best guide. The main motive of this study is that no master thesis has been made in this context related to tahajjud before. Our study consists of an introduction and three parts. In the first chapter, the concepts related to the subject are discussed. In the second chapter, the importance of Tahajjud in the Qur'an is analyzed in the light of the verses. The verses that mean tahajjud are explained with various tafsirs and the purpose of Allah is tried to be explained. In the third chapter, the place and importance of tahajjud in hadiths are discussed. In this section, Tahajjud is discussed in the light of Prophet Muhammad's practices. Then, fiqh issues, especially the provision of tahajjud, is explained. The place of the subject in the Kutub-i Sitte is tried to be determined. Keywords: Hadith, religious practises, salat, night prayer, tahajjud.
